Baby Nyquist's First Web Page

Baby Mode

Baby Nyquist ran a running blog while we were in the hospital delivering Colin. It is displayed below. Everyone following along commented on this Daddy's Corner.

For the record, Baby Nyquist isn't going away now that Colin is born. We'll keep updates and stories coming for quite a while yet.

June 12, 2009 at 9:10 pm
We moved over to the Mommy Baby ward around six. We are exhausted but doing amazing. Little Colin is the most amazing little dude. I am going to be writing a Daddy's Corner soon.

June 12, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Thanks to everyone who wants to come visit. We are holding off on visits for now. All three of us need some time to ourselves to recover. We will post more when people can meet the little man. We will also be having a meet Colin get-to-gether very soon.

June 12, 2009 at 4:35 pm
Colin Benjamin was born on June 12th, at 2:45 PM and weighed 9 pounds and 14 ounces!

June 12, 2009 at 12:32 pm
It is just about time - I won't likely post again until Kiddo is here!

June 12, 2009 at 11:40 am
She is now at 9 CM - type-oh in the last post.

June 12, 2009 at 11:40 am
The new epidural has been good to Allison and she has been sleeping like a log for a couple of hours now. She is not at 9 CM and still snoozing.

June 12, 2009 at 9:40 am
Allison just had her epidural replaced, the first one fell out and the contractions had her complete attention. She is now between 7 and 8 CM.

June 12, 2009 at 7:52 am
Allison is sleeping again. She is beautiful.

June 12, 2009 at 7:15 am
The Drug Doctor (can't spell the title :)) came in an upped Allison's dose on the epidural. She is much happier and back to sleep. I'm drinking coffee. They serve Starbucks brewed here at Overlake!

June 12, 2009 at 6:54 am
Happy Birthday Allison!

June 12, 2009 at 6:51 am
Allison is at 6cm and progressing.

June 12, 2009 at 6:51 am
Sleep is good. I am now awake. Allison is awake, but still working on alert. Contractions are fast and furious now, even on an epidural, she is asking for more drugs.

June 12, 2009 at 3:29 am
Allison is comfortable. We are going to try for another couple hours of sleep.

June 12, 2009 at 2:40 am
Things got intense overnight. Allison got an epideral.

June 11, 2009 at 11:17 pm
The contractions are more intense. Allison says the pain is now at 5. They are going to give her ambien to help her sleep.

June 11, 2009 at 10:35 pm
We are going to try for some sleep. Allison is still at 4cm, but her contractions have organized and are in good pattern. They are announcing themselves now, more than before.

June 11, 2009 at 8:54 pm
You know that the contractions are getting intense when Allison has to pause eating the Jello when one hits.

June 11, 2009 at 8:30 pm
Allison is chowing down on chicken broth.

June 11, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Things are continuing. Allison is having solid contractions that are getting more uncomfortable, but still very manageable. Heidi and I are giving Allison massages that are apparently helping a ton!

June 11, 2009 at 7:30 pm
They increased the does of PIT to Allison, her contractions increased in intensity an equal amount. Things are progressing nicely!

June 11, 2009 at 7:14 pm
I had dinner and Allison is working on her second strawberry Popsicle. Dr. says that she can only have juice and jello. Since Popsicles are frozen juice, she is good, but very hungry.

June 11, 2009 at 6:23 pm
The Mariners are winning!

June 11, 2009 at 6:03 pm
Allison is basically just relaxing now. She is on PIT and it is working its magic with her contractions, but nothing too uncomfortable. The nurse just asked her to rate her pain on a scale of 1 to 10, she said she is probably at a three.

June 11, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Dr. just checked Allison. She is still at 3.5cm but making progress. Dr. thinks that he'll be here tomorrow morning.

June 11, 2009 at 4:43 pm
When asked how she is doing, Allison replied "good! I'm doing really good."

June 11, 2009 at 4:35 pm
So far so good. Allison is in a great mood and not in a lot of pain. She is having frequent contractions, but is doing well. They have just started her on PIT to regulate the contractions that she is having.

June 11, 2009 at 4:16 pm
Allison just killed a little cup of strawberry jello.

June 11, 2009 at 4:08 pm
Heidi, our good friend and Dulah baked a cake for the nursing staff and left it in their staff break room when she arrived. The nursing staff manager just came into the room and announced that the cake is amazing. Allison thought that she may be coming in to give her drugs! Everyone on the nursing staff knows about us because of Heidi's cake. It is so much fun!

June 11, 2009 at 4:04 pm
The Seattle Mariners are playing. We have the ball game turned on on the TV in the room. Go M's!

June 11, 2009 at 4:04 pm
Allison is now having contractions too frequently (every minute and a half) to have PIT (Petosin). It looks like we are having this baby without any inducing drugs.

June 11, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Allison is now hooked up to the IV. The nurse found a really good vein and made quite a mess. Allison is a little light-headed, but doing great and still laughing.

June 11, 2009 at 3:08 pm
The nurse just came in and is going to start a fluid IV and monitor Allison's contractions. We are all thinking that Petosin (the drug they use to induce labor) may not be needed.

June 11, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Allison stopped walking for some Jello. We are heading back out to walk. Contractions are coming about 4 minutes apart.

June 11, 2009 at 2:42 pm
We are still walking. Allison's contractions are coming frequently and with strength. Everything is right on track! Still no IV or drugs.

June 11, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Allison had her nails done. They are per-dy.

June 11, 2009 at 2:10 pm
Ben has has some lunch - this hospital has good food! Allison is out walking. She is still in a great mood and doesn't appear to be in a lot of pain. We are at 4 cm.

June 11, 2009 at 1:08 pm
Going to walk around the hospital...fun!

June 11, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Allison is in great spirits! Things are progressing on track. No drugs still.

June 11, 2009 at 12:14 pm
Allison and I have turned off our phones. If you want to contact us, you'll have to email or use the webpage and I'll get to you when I have time.

June 11, 2009 at 12:04 pm
Still no drugs, but Allison is already at 3.5 cm. They broke her water a moment ago. This baby is coming, and probably on his own!

June 11, 2009 at 11:44 am
Still nothing changed. Allison is up and walking about. They haven't started any drugs, but at the rate that Allison is going, we may not need them. The race between natural labor and inducing is still on.

June 11, 2009 at 10:39 am
We are at the hospital. Allison is hooked up to the monitors but nothing else so far. I am very nervous and excited

June 11, 2009 at 9:35 am
We are on our way to the hospital - here we go!
