Jul. 19 - Colin's Dedication

Today was Colin's dedication at church. Allison and I, along with our church don't baptize infants; it is our opinion that when a person is baptized in water, they are using an outward symbol to represent an internal decision to follow Christ. As infants do not have the capacity to make such a decision, we instead dedicate them to the Lord through public prayer.

Today, we publicly presented Colin to the church and to God. Allison and I also publicly pledged that it is our desire to live our lives in a Godly manner and teach Colin the ways of the Lord, so that at the earliest possible age, he will have the opportunity to choose to follow Christ for himself. Our prayer is and will be that the Lord take Colin and protect him, shape him and let him grow to be a man of God that will positively impact those he comes into contact with.

Colin is such a blessing and such an amazing miracle, it is impossible for Allison and I not to acknowledge God's presence in his and our lives. It is also impossible for Allison and I to believe that we have all (or any) of the answers to how to raise him, protect him and teach him. It seems only right to dedicate the gift that God has given us to the Lord and pledge to raise him and teach him as Jesus would intend. Colin is our gift from God, to care for for a time, but he is the Lords. Today, we acknowledged that through the dedication.

I got some fun video before my CAMERA DIED hahahaha. it was such an adorable dedication.
